A recent report by Morgan Stanley points to a near future when many homes and businesses will go off-grid, caused by the intersection of clean energy tax credits and the falling costs of solar power collection and energy storage, using improved solar panels and re-purposed Tesla automobile batteries. Tesla’s stock has seen a significant bump since the report.
In a decade or less, many homes and businesses will be hooked into a large solar energy network with consistent power availability, but many may also go it alone. From a business perspective, that means you should make it as painless as possible for customers to reconnect after a power outage, by doing things like storing transaction details on your side of the connection.
You may also want to save money and the environment by tapping into the newly practical solar energy yourself.
