With the rising popularity of drones, the United States Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is currently working on regulations to detail the where, when, and why of drones.

We wrote about the registration process for commercial and private drone pilots last year. The FAA’s registration website is now more user friendly, and they’ve launched a promotional campaign to help pilots understand where they’re free to fly. The FAA website offers sign templates and tips for deterring unauthorized drones from flying over protected property.

Perhaps the most useful tool they provide pilots is B4UFLY: an app that identifies restricted airspace in real time. The app also has a planning feature that allows users to check future flight routes in different areas in the U.S. It links to regulatory information to keep users updated on the latest laws as well.
