Microsoft has announced that, starting January 12, 2016, it will support only the most recent version of Internet Explorer available for a supported operating system. What this means is that you need to update to the most recent version of IE available for your operating system, or brave a buggier and less safe browsing experience.

With support discontinued for Windows XP earlier this year, the announcement means IE 8 will no longer receive security patches or updates.

We suggest that you consult your IT professional about the best browser for your organization. If you rely on Microsoft productivity programs (such as SharePoint), you may have a better experience using IE. If you don’t, you should still keep IE updated as a backup browser. IE 11 is the most recent version, but experts expect IE 12 to roll out with Windows 9 next spring.
