Tom Wheeler, Chairman of the Federal Communications Commission, last week called on wireless and landline phone carriers and robocall infrastructure companies. His point? It’s time to get proactive about blocking robocalls.

Consumers on the Do Not Call Registry don’t want to report violations after the fact. They want to eat dinner uninterrupted by automatic phone calls. In fact, the number one consumer complaint to the FCC is robocalling.

The FCC believes the technology is there to stop these calls from getting through to the consumers, so they’re lending a little political will to telecommunications companies to do something about it. The businesses involved have 30 days to respond with action plans.
